Take Back the Night is a powerful opportunity to celebrate, support and recognize survivors of sexual and gender based violence. It connects community with organizations and folks working to end gender based violence and who can support survivors in their healing. It is a reclaiming of the right to walk the streets free from the fear of violence and a time when we can come together to rally and march in resistance.
We will meet at The W (20 Dickson St, Unit 101 Cambridge) a community space operated through YWCA Cambridge, where you are welcome to gather and connect with community organizations inside. Outside there will be sign making and sidewalk chalking. The rally takes place out front of the building and the march begins there.
Everyone is welcome to take part. This is a family and youth friendly event.
This event and YWCA Cambridge is located on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to the Haudenosaunee people of the Six Nations, which includes six miles on either side of the Grand River. This territory is the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee People. Understanding and working toward the elimination of sexual and gender based violence must include an understanding and commitment to decolonization and include Indigenous people of this land.
